About me
I am a qualified counsellor (NCPS accredited) and hypnotherapist. I'm also a first aider, mental health first aider and a last aider (end of life).
I have experience of helping children from as young as primary school age, right up to old age and those who are terminally ill.
I hold an enhanced DBS and can also offer emotional support sessions.
There are many areas in which I can help including: anxiety, confidence, self-esteem, relationships, loss, bereavement, anger, depression, motivation, sleep, fears, avoidance, transition, suicidal thoughts, loneliness and identity. Just ask if you are unsure.
My experience has come from working for 13 years in a primary school. Bereavement counselling for two charities. I currently work part-time as a Wellbeing Co-ordinator in a Leeds Hospice supporting patients and their families.
Help should be inclusive - everyone should be able to access it. I am open to discussing options around this with you, family members, friends or carers.
Free Consultation. Remote sessions or Face to Face?
To discuss some details about you and find out: 1. If we can move forwards together and 2. How that works best for you.
It is important to feel relaxed and happy within the therapeutic relationship. I work in collaboration with Bingley Counselling Centre and can signpost to other professionals if appropriate.
Sessions can be held face to face, over video call or on the telephone - in my experience all methods are highly valuable. I work from counselling rooms in Burley in Wharfedale or Bingley - both have parking very close by and are easily accessible by train or bus.
Community visits*
This option may be helpful for the elderly and those with accessibility challenges, as well as young children or those with anxiety.
It's extremely tough when people can't use modern technology, are ill or can't get out of the home for one reason or another.
* Dependent upon a safety assessment.
Therapy Offered: Pluralistic Practice inc. Person-centred, CBT & Psychodynamic
I have trained to work pluralistically with my clients. This means that I work with a variety of theories and tailor my practice to what best suits my clients at that particular time; we work collaboratively and review as often as required. The three main areas I have studied are person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT. I am registered with the NCPS, National Hypnotherapy Society, The Prince's Trust and the ICO.
I am also a fully qualified hypnotherapist.
All of my work is led by you - this is your journey and I am here to help guide you on your way. You should be in a space where you feel safe and supported to be yourself and speak freely out loud without judgement. A trusting client/therapist relationship is an essential element.
I work within the Ethical Framework of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
CBT
Exploring and challenging thought patterns, reactions and behaviours.
This work may involve keeping note of daily events and challenging yourself between sessions.
Making therapy accessible to more people is high on my agenda.
Psychodynamic
Tracking back - looking at our own timeline and what has shaped us positively and negatively along the way.
It's amazing what we can learn about ourselves by talking through past experiences and noticing how we want to be in the present.
Please get in touch to discuss different options available to help with inclusivity.
COSTS: Between £50 - £65 per session. Usually around 50 mins in length.
Initial consultation free of charge.

What My Clients Say
" I have to admit, I can't believe how I've changed my perspective about counselling: I had to try something and the way you listen and really get me has astonished me. Exploring my upbringing and looking at situations from a different angle helped me gain proof against my own doubts. And I think I'm a tricky customer!
You have helped me so much and I'm lucky and blessed that you are my bereavement counsellor."
- CB, Leeds
"Hi, I just wanted to let you know I have just done my first presentation to a large group of strangers at work and it went absolutely fantastically! I had a slight panic attack just before they arrived but the hypnotherapy and tips you gave me all kicked in and I really quite enjoyed it. Thank you again for all of the help you gave me."
- HM, Ilkley
"Thank you for being so patient with me - I realise that I was hesitant and tried to avoid sessions to start with because I couldn't see it helping.
Now, I wouldn't think twice about counselling and have the confidence to talk openly to recommend it to others who need help. It has turned my life around for the better. Not just for me but for my girls too."
- RH, Bradford
